Around 1,200 native trees, shrubs and grasses were planted along the banks of the Leigh River in late winter 2025.
The bulk of the activity on the north end of the common is is part of the Green Links program to improve the riparian environment. The planting was funded by CCMA, coordinated by Landcare and well supported by local volunteers.
The Primary School also got involved south of the bridge, planting 80 native trees.
There will be more planting to come next year, including opportunities to get involved.
