Emergency Hub
Providing support and communications in an emergency event

(and hoping it's never needed)
If you have an emergency, call 000
The Shelford Emergency Hub is a space where people can come together in the event of an emergency, to support each other and to share information.
-
It is NOT a designated ‘safer place’ in the event of a fire emergency.
-
It does NOT replace any Emergency Relief Centre that Golden Plains or any other council may activate to support people displaced by an emergency.
The Hub has been established and readied by a small group of local volunteers in partnership with Golden Plains Shire and comes under the umbrella of the Shelford Community Hall Committee of Management.

The Emergency Hub model is shared across Victorian councils and is based on a concept originally developed in New Zealand. See the Community Emergency Hub Guide for an introduction of what it is all abount.
If an emergency event affects Shelford, and the Hall is considered a safe location, the Hub will be activated (opened). The space will be powered and supervised. Volunteers will be in touch with some of the emergency services authorities so that locals can provide and receive relevant and accurate information. Most importantly it is a place where people can support each other.
How will you know if the Hub has been opened?
-
A banner will be added to the welcome page of this website.
-
A post will be made on the Shelford Locals Facebook page.
